2. Approval of resolution for the FY 2022 STEP Operation Slowdown to designate Judge Richard Cortez, as grantee's authorized official with authority for County Judge to execute resolution.

BACKGROUND
The purpose of the Operation Slowdown grant is to increase effective enforcement and adjudication of traffic safety laws and to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes as well as to enhance public information and education efforts during the Enforcement period. The grant will enhance the visibility deterrence patrol due to significant increase in speed related (fatality/serious bodily injury) crashes within Pct. 3 jurisdiction.
Total amount of grant funds request is $4,000.00. Grant requires a cash match of 1,000.00 (20%).
Grant application deadline is Friday, April 22, 2022.

BUDGETARY IMPACT:
No budgetary impact; approval to apply; grant requires a cash match of 1,000.00 (20%). Grant funding is used to pay overtime & fringes for Constable Pct. 3 law enforcement personnel assigned to Operation Slowdown. FY 2022 grant period is from 6-7-2022 to 6-21-2022 (11 net working days).New account numbers will be created by the Auditor's Office once grant is awarded by grantor, accepted by CC, budget is established, and revenues are certified by the Co. Auditor.
