Authorization and approval to apply for the 2012 COPS Hiring Program (CHP) grant with the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), U.S. Department of Justice.
BACKGROUND
The grant will provide a maximum amount of $125,000.00 per officer for the 36 months grant period. A minimum 25% local cash match is required.
New officers hired under the grant are required to be a military veteran.
Hidalgo County will be required to retain all grant awarded positions for a minimum of 12 months after completion of the 36 months of grant funding.
The application packages for the FY2012 COPS grant is due March 22, 2012.
