BACKGROUND

The purpose of immunizations in infection control is to proactively prevent the spread of infectious diseases by training the body's immune system to recognize and fight specific pathogens, thus reducing the likelihood of individuals getting sick and transmitting the disease to others; essentially, it aims to break the chain of infection by creating immunity within a population through vaccination.
