The County of Hidalgo Urban County Program (UCP) is disclosing that Genaro Tafolla, who has applied for assistance under the Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) Program with the Affordable Homes of South Texas, Inc. (AHSTI) is related to an employee of AHSTI.

As per 24 CFR 92.356(d)(1), the UCP must publicly disclose that Genaro & Aide G. Tafolla are related to AHSTI Loan Officer, Francisco M. Tafolla. During application intake, it was disclosed that Mr. Genaro Tafolla is the brother of Frank M. Tafolla. In Compliance with 24 CFR 92.356(d)(2), the UCP requested and received a legal opinion from Mr. Steven Crain, County Attorney. The legal opinion received stated that the approval of the application for Mr. Tafolla, would not violate Texas state or local laws. As a result, the UCP must publicly disclose the above mentioned case before it can request an exception from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
