Requesting permission to allow Hidalgo County Health & Human Services Dept. in partnership with Hidalgo County Emergency Management to host and provide training for local Amateur Radio Operators. The training will be conducted at the Hidalgo County EOC and utilize the EOC's amateur radio equipment and equipment brought by local Amateur Radio Operators. The Field Day Exercise will be on June 28 and June 29, 2014.
BACKGROUND
Purpose: The Hidalgo County EOC, Texas Department of Emergency Management, Red Cross and National Weather Service along with similar services agencies & support programs rely on local volunteer Amateur Radio Operators to assist with communications during a large scale event.
The National Association for Amateur Radio will be conducting a nationwide radio communication exercise on June 28 - 29, 2014. This will be the first time, Hidalgo County EOC and its support team will take part.
