Report on Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) Plan and Community Survey for resident of Hidalgo County.
BACKGROUND
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the County of Hidalgo Urban County Program (UCP) announces the release of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) Community Survey. The survey will assist in the development of a fair housing plan, an assessment of fair housing issues and contributing factors, and an identification of fair housing priorities and goals. Information obtained will be included in the Assessment of Fair Housing Plan, currently being compiled by Hidalgo County and the Cities of Edinburg, Mission, McAllen and Pharr as well as the Hidalgo County Public Housing Authority and the Public Housing Authorities of the Cities of Alamo, Donna, Edcouch, Elsa, La Joya, McAllen, Mercedes, Mission, Pharr, San Juan and Weslaco.
The AFFH Community Survey will assist in assessing whether individuals and families have the information, opportunity, and options to live where they choose without unlawful discrimination related to race, color, religion, sex, familial status, national origin, or disability and assess whether housing options are realistically available in integrated areas and areas with access to opportunity.
The AFFH Community Survey is available at https://tx-hidalgocounty.civicplus.com and will close on Friday, July 14, 2017, at 5:00 p.m.
All Hidalgo County residents and interested parties are encouraged to participate in this anonymous survey
