The Local Administrative Judge of Hidalgo County intends to submit a grant application to the Texas Bar Foundation in the amount of $50,000.00 which requires no cash match. The application, which will be submitted under the category of “PROGRAMS THAT RELATE TO THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE”, is intended to assist defendants who had delays in the adjudication of their cases due to the COVID-19 Pandemic or were held in the county jail or immigration facilities and need to complete high school credit work. The program will offer online credit recovery, skills training with social and emotional development components and employment facilitation. The conduit intended for the program is a targeted population of offenders on county supervision or pre-trial diversion programs.
