BACKGROUND
The purpose of the grant would be to hire an Attorney, Social Worker & Mental Health Coordinator to represent individuals in custody that are suffering from mental health issues. The Grant would fund either option: (A) 100% for two years with no matching funds required from the County or (B) 100% for the first two years with no matching funds from the County followed by a sliding scale for years 3-6: For ex. yr 3 (80%) State funding, yr 4 (60%) state funding, yr 5 (40%) state funding, yr 6 (20%) State funding and yr 7 (100%) funding from the County.
Application deadline is May 2, 2022.
A Backlog Coordinator would be requested under the Indigent Defense Program to address pandemic-related backlogs.
