Requesting authorization for Hidalgo County to participate with the Valley International Health Institute in applying for a Community Transformation Grant offered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. While the main applicant for this grant will be the International Valley Health Institute, Hidalgo County will participate with an element of the grant's components by proposing to enhance the existing walking trails in Precincts 2 and 4 and create walking trails in Precincts 1 and 3. All locations have been determined by each Commissioner and Precinct staff and are at Precinct parks and / or Community Resource Centers. The total amount of grant allocation for these projects is estimated at $1,333.850.00.
