BE IT REMEMBERED, that on this 8th day of March A.D., 2016, there was begun and held a SPECIAL MEETING of the Honorable Commissioners’ Court of Hidalgo County, Texas, wherein the following members thereof were present, to-wit:

NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners' Court will be held at the Edinburg Council Chambers 415 W. University Drive, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:
1.
Roll Call
Judge Ramon Garcia called the meeting to order at 2:11 p.m.
Commissioners Eudardo "Eddie" Cantu and Joe M. Flores were not present.
Commissioners Court recessed at 2:20 p.m.
On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 1, A.C. CUELLAR, JR., seconded by COMMISSIONER PCT. 4, JOSEPH PALACIOS, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval to go into recess.
Vote: 3 - 0 – Unanimously
Commissioner Cantu joined the meeting.
Commissioner Cantu stepped away from the meeting.
Commissioners Court reconvene meeting at 3:16 p.m.
On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 1, A.C. CUELLAR, JR., seconded by COMMISSIONER PCT. 4, JOSEPH PALACIOS, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval.
Vote: 3 - 0 – Unanimously

1. Discussion, consideration and action on Memorandum of Understanding between County of Hidalgo and City of Edinburg regarding financial contribution for Courthouse Project
Judge Garcia recognized the substantial importance of the project and once again acknowledged the collaboration of the City of Edinburg. The judge praised the significance of what this project will bring to the city and to the county. Nevertheless, because of all the legal concerns that are involved and all the financing issues that needed to be resolved, they have now resolved those. The county is now prepare to sign the MOU.
Judge Garcia emphasized that the General Memorandum of Understanding is to be sign with the further understanding that there will be an interlocal agreement prepare by the various legal departments. The city, the county and the different lawyers hired. The specifics will be reduced to writing and will be executed as same.
On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 1, A.C. CUELLAR, JR., seconded by COMMISSIONER PCT. 4, JOSEPH PALACIOS, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval.
Vote: 3 - 0 – Unanimously
City of Edinburg Mayor Garcia congratulated the county and all the staff that have worked for so long on this project. The mayor pointed out the need for a newer facility, as the current courthouse has been functioning since 1954.
Commissioner A.C. Cuellar thanked the city for all their participation and effort by contributing into seeing this project through.
2. Discussion regarding the County of Hidalgo New Courthouse Project
No further discussions presented.
