NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners Court will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building, 100 E. Cano, 1st floor, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:

Judge Garcia called the meeting to order at 9:48 a.m.

All members of the court were present during the meeting.

Opening prayer offered by Julia Sullivan.

A moment of silence was observed by the court in honor of the victims of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

The court offered a moment of silence honoring the life of Fabian Ramirez former county employee.

The court moved to approve the consent agenda with the exception of Items.5.A., 8.B. & 10.A.1. & 2. to be pulled for further discussion.

Presentation of the United Way of South Texas' Hidalgo County Campaign Kickoff.

Michael Leo reported that the upcoming United Way of South Texas kickoff starting starts on January. The organization will begin visiting county departments within the next few weeks.

Leo acknowledged Commissioners Cantu and Fuentes for their precincts contribution. 

Commissioner Cantu encouraged department heads to allow United Way to visit with employees.

Raul Silguero advised that they are adding a net two positions. The Research Analyst II positions is for the property tax division and is unrelated to the auto unit. There's no additional cost to the county.
