Valde Guerra stated that this agreement would formalize an arrangement with the City of Hidalgo in regards to Health and WIC building that the county has had for many years. Upon approval, Valde Guerra assured the Court that he would get all the proper insurances and documentation needed, and forward them to the County Auditor's Office.

He also stated a quick briefing of their Financial Position; on their total assests the amount is $2,654,909.01, on their total liabilities is the amount of $660,507.42, giving them total fund balances of $1,994,401.59, and $2,654,909.01 is the total of fund balances and liabilities.

The Veteran Service Department to honor highly decorated Vietnam War Veteran Mr. Cruz Yanez. (Audio Reference 19m:31s)

Felix Rodriguez commenced the honoring of Veteran Cruz Yanez. Mr. Rodriguez has met with different officials in regards to awarding Mr. Yanez with the Congressional Medal of Honor. Mr. Rodriguez asked if the Court would support Mr. Yanez with a Resolution in support of Congressman Gonzalez's efforts to secure Mr. Yanez's Congressional Medal of Honor. In which Judge Cortez agreed to support the request.

Mr. Yanez is a highly decorated Veteran who continuously set aside his own safety during combat to protect his comrades and execute the mission at hand. Cruz Yanez citations were read by Tony Cordova, a Purple Heart recipient. Yanez medals include: National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and for valor, 2 Bronze Star Medals, 2 Silver Star Medals, and the Combat Infantry Badge. 

The Court honored Mr. Cruz Yanez for his courageous service for our country.

No action was taken on this Item.

Felix Rodriguez read the third quarter Office Report to the Court. Mr. Rodriguez stated that year to date $4,659,058.32 is the revenue generated back into the economy in Hidalgo County. He also stated that the number of veterans and services provided are increasing. Year to date 4,043 of veterans have been served.
