NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners Court will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building, 100 E. Cano, 1st floor, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:

Presentation for discussion, consideration, and action on a recommendation by project engineer Strada Engineering & Consulting, LLC to award to the responsible bidder submitting the lowest and best bid [while meeting all specifications] for Bid No./Titled: 2019-295-12-18-YSS: Solar Light Project(s) in Precinct 1, commencing with Monte Alto, & Other Unincorporated Townships with a minimum population of 700 residents, Parks & Other Designated County Owned Properties. Martha Salazar stated that there were 5 participants that submitted their bids. Project Engineer, Strada, recommended to contract vendor, RGV Solar Power Systems, who submitted the lowest bid of $51,750.00.
Commissioner Fuentes gave a brief background on how this project came to pass. This project commenced as an idea by Weslaco ISD students from the Migrant Department. The students reached out to the city with the idea of starting a "Colonia Lighting Project" that would be at no cost to the residents. The students then developed a solar powered light. Over the course of two years, the city and the students have been working together to make this project possible. Commissioner Fuentes thanked the students, engineers, and staff for all of their hard work and efforts towards this project.
On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 1, DAVID FUENTES, seconded by COMMISSIONER PCT. 2, EDUARDO “EDDIE” CANTU, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval on Item 4.A.1
Vote: 3 - 0 – Unanimously
