NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners Court will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building, 100 E. Cano, 1st floor, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:
In accordance with section 418.016 of the Texas Government Code, Governor Abbott has suspended various provisions that require government officials and members of the public to be physically present at a specified meeting location. The Court pulled Consent Agenda items 2.C & 12.A.1. & 2. for further discussion.
The Court proceeded to approve the remainder of the Consent Agenda.
Open Forum Participant, Fern McClaugherty, came before the court to express her concerns on how the county is being operated under the courts’ administration during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as her concern on agenda item 18.B.1.
Open Forum Participant, Gary Groves, came before the Court to express his concerns on property taxes and how COVID-19 and the winter storm affected the timeliness of paying taxes.
Open Forum Participant, Angelica Olguin with the LUPE Organization, came before the Court to thank the Court for the continued projects in her area and express her concerns with the wifi in her neighborhood.
Open Forum Participant, Maricela Hernandez with the LUPE Organization, came before the Court to express her concerns with the internet services in her neighborhood.
Open Forum Participants, Marina Oviedo, Karla Gonzalez & Elizabeth Gonzalez, with the LUPE Organization came before the Court to express their concerns with the cleaning and pickup services of brush in their neighborhood.
Open Forum Participant, Xotchil Garcia, came before the Court to express her concerns with the cleaning and pickup services of brush in her neighborhood as well as the street names in her area.
Open Forum Participant, Martha Salazar came before the Court to pay tribute to her late mother, Pauline Gonzalez, who served Hidalgo County for over 20 years.

Misti Palacios with the Hidalgo County Public Affairs Division, came before the Court to read the Proclamation calling for a moment of silence on March 17, 2021, the first anniversary of a local declaration of disaster for COVID-19.
