NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners Court will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building, 100 E. Cano, 1st floor, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:

In accordance with Section 551.127, NOTICE is hereby given that a physical quorum, including the presiding officer/member, will be present at the specified meeting location.  Some members of the governing body and/or government officials may participate via videoconference.

President of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Guy Bailey, came before the Court to express his gratitude for all the support during the establishment of the School of Medicine, and the continuous support towards the education of the community.

Unidad Coalition Coordinator, Allisoun Brenner, came before the Court to express her gratitude for declaring October 28th as National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Ms. Brenner reiterated the importance of disposing properly prescription drugs as it prevents medications being used inappropriately.

Commissioner Everardo "Ever" Villarreal stepped away from the meeting.

Participant Beverly Avila, on behalf of public school employees, came before the Court to express her gratitude for their support of Proposition 9.

Public participant Fern McClaugherty came before the Court to request the names of the nominated candidates for the Hidalgo County Appraisal District Board of Directors for 2024-2025.

County Executive Officer, Valde Guerra stated that he would have the Chief Appraiser from the Appraisal District, Mr. Garza, to have the list ready for the following Commissioner's Court meeting.

Pct. No. 1 Commissioner David Fuentes nomiated Joe Olivarez, and Richard A. Garza. Pct. No. 2 Commissioner Eduardo "Eddie" Cantu express that he is in agreement with the current nominees which consist of Albert D. Cardenas, Joe D. Olivarez, Amador Requenez, Eddy Betancourt and Richard A. Garza.

On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 3, EVERARDO “EVER” VILLARREAL, seconded by COMMISSIONER PCT. 1, DAVID FUENTES, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval on agenda item 9.B.
