Recognition of the Fine Arts in Education Program administered by ToGive International for Hidalgo County residents. (Audio Reference 28m:39s)
Commissioner Cantu stated that he hired Mr. Agusto Contreras to bring music and different fine arts to the South Alamo community for kids because there weren't many activities for them. Even though the program was intended for kids, their parents and grandparents also got involved.
Mr. Agusto Contreras expressed his gratitude to the Court for the county's support in the Fine Arts in Education Program. The Fine Arts in Education Program members then played a song for the Court. After the performance, member Claudia Ochoa thanked the Court for helping their South Alamo community.

Open Forum Participant, Fern McClaugherty came before the Court to express her concerns about the Hidalgo County adopted budget for FY2025 since it will raise more revenue from property taxes by 6.9% compared to last year's budget. Mrs. McClaugherty asked the Court to lower tax rates for everyone who owns a property or a business in Hidalgo County.
The Court proceeded into Agenda Item 16 - Closed Session.
