NOTICE is hereby given in accordance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Commissioners Court will be held in the Commissioners Courtroom of the Administration Building, 100 E. Cano, 1st floor, Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas. Discussion and possible action relating to the following business will be transacted:

In accordance with Section 551.127, NOTICE is hereby given that a physical quorum, including the presiding officer/member, will be present at the specified meeting location. Some members of the governing body and/or government officials may participate via videoconference.

Commissioner Eddie Cantu called the meeting to order at 10:02 A.M.

All members of the Court were present during the roll call, except Commissioner David Fuentes and Commissioner Villarreal. Commissioner Fuentes and Commissioner Villarreal were absent from this meeting.

Commissioner Cantu recessed the meeting with a vote of approval at 10:03 A.M.

On motion by COMMISSIONER PCT. 4, ELLIE TORRES, seconded by JUDGE, RICHARD F. CORTEZ, the Court made a UNANIMOUS vote of approval to recess the Commissioner's Court meeting.

Vote: 3 - 0 – Unanimously

The Court proceeded to the regular Drainage District meeting - Item 10.

Arturo Guajardo Jr., Hidalgo County Clerk, stated that the team’s success on the field was being shared by the community. He expressed confidence that the experiences gained on the field would carry forward with them into the future. Mr. Guajardo then proceeded to list the number of PSJA Bears who are part of the Hidalgo County family.

Marco Guajardo, Head Coach of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears Baseball Team, expressed his gratitude to the Court and the community for their support. He praised the team’s hard work and dedication, noting it was inspiring to witness their commitment throughout an incredible season. Coach Guajardo added that he looks forward to next year’s season.

The Court proceeded to Agenda Item 4.

Cristela Rocha, with the LUPE Organization, informed the Court and the public about the approaching hurricane season and noted that LUPE is available to assist as needed.

Discussion, consideration and approval to have Hidalgo County participate in the Public Health Provider - Charity Care Program.  The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Public Health Provider - Charity Care Program allows qualified providers to receive reimbursement for the cost of delivering healthcare services, including behavioral health services, immunizations and other preventive services when those costs are not reimbursed by another source.
