Summary
City Council tasked the City Manager to study public safety overtime with the goal of reducing overtime by 25%, and provide recommendations for consideration with the FY23 budget process. This Work Session is to discuss the outcomes of staff research as it relates to a potential reduction of public safety overtime. (Julie Karins, City Manager)
FISCAL IMPACT
Pending Council direction there is no impact at this time.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
This was a goal that was provided to the City Manager during her annual review and included in her 2021 annual goals. There have been no previous presentations, other than annual budget reviews, to the City Council that were specific to the police or fire department overtime budgets.
