Recommendation

Approve expenditure of funds up to $529,400 for the purchase and installation of a replacement odor control system at the Las Brisas Lift Station. (Barbara Chappell, Deputy Public Works Director)

FISCAL IMPACT

The FY2023 Capital Improvement Program budget includes $529,400 in wastewater operating funds for the replacement odor control system at the Las Brisas Lift Station (Project #60095)

BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS

The Las Brisas sewer lift station is located in a residential community and is near the Las Brisas Academy School. The odor control unit prevents the buildup of hydrogen sulfide in the wet well. Buildup of hydrogen sulfide causes a strong odor and poses a safety hazard to staff when performing the daily maintenance of the wet well.

STAFF ANALYSIS

Per City of Goodyear Resolution 08-1255, all expenditures of budgeted funds in excess of $500,000 must obtain Council approval.  The city has an adopted Capital Improvement Program, the Las Brisas Lift Station odor control system replacement is a part of this program and planned for completion in FY2023.
