BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS:
STAFF ANALYSIS
The Board of Adjustment is a city-appointed committee that hears appeals of decisions of the Zoning Administrator and requests for variance. The Board of Adjustment is not an active group, having heard only 2 cases in the last 10 years. Due to this, staff is proposing designating the Planning and Zoning Commission members as the Board of Adjustment. The Planning and Zoning Commission Rules of Procedure (a.k.a. bylaws) have not been updated since 2007. There are several proposed changes to the Rules of Procedure that staff will discuss and receive direction on. If this change were made, it will require an update to the Zoning Ordinance, Planning Commission Rules of Procedure, and Board of Adjustment Rules of Procedure. This would come before the Planning and Zoning Commission at a future date for public hearing, discussion, and action.
