BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS

On January 29, 2024, City Council adopted a resolution calling for an election in August 2024.  Due to a change made by the State legislature, Resolution 2024-2390 was then adopted on February 26, 2024, to call the election for July 30, 2024.

The Primary Candidate Election took place on July 30, 2024, with six candidates vying for three seats.

The results of the election are as follows:
CANDIDATE VOTES CAST
Amarillas, Angie 4,823
Beckles, Benita 7,543
Floyd, Tamara 5,701
Kaino, Laura 8,968
Roberts, Teri 7,359
Terry, Trey 9,370

The following candidates received a majority of the votes cast, will be declared elected, will receive a certificate of election and will begin their terms on January 1, 2025.
  • Benita Beckles
  • Laura Kaino
  • Trey Terry
Since all seats are able to be filled in the Primary, the General Election for Goodyear Council candidates will be canceled.
