SUMMARY
Ambulance service to the citizens of Goodyear is currently provided by the Goodyear Fire Department, Maricopa Ambulance and Mutual-Aid partners. The Intergovernmental Government Agreement between Surprise Fire-Medical and the Goodyear Fire Department will ensure uninterrupted ambulance transport services during times of peak overload, simultaneous emergencies, and during major emergency incidents.

RECOMMENDATION
Approve IGA with Surprise Fire-Medical Department and providing authorization and direction to take actions and execute documents necessary to carry out the intent of the agreement. (Paul Luizzi, Fire Chief)
FISCAL IMPACT
Each agency shall be responsible for the costs associated with providing ambulance transport services. There will be no financial impact to the Fire Department budget by entering into this agreement. Rates and costs associated with ambulance transport services are in compliance with applicable laws and will be billed accordingly.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
This is the first formal ambulance agreement between Surprise Fire-Medical and the City of Goodyear, and is included as Attachment A.
STAFF ANALYSIS
The Surprise Fire-Medical Department and the City of Goodyear have been partners since December 1999. This agreement enhances our current automatic aid agreement by adding a back-up ambulance transport services agreement. Each agency will provide interim ambulance transport services during times of peak overload, simultaneous emergencies, and major emergency incidents, in accordance with Arizona Department of Emergency Medical Service Emergency Certificate of Necessity A.R.S 36-2234.
