| STAFF PRESENTER(S): | Barbara Chappell, Deputy Public Works Director |
OTHER PRESENTER(S):

SUMMARY
Request City Council to approve the expenditure of $2,030,000 for construction of a new growth related waterline on Litchfield Rd identified in the 2016 Integrated Water Master Plan (IWMP).
Recommendation
Approve expenditure of funds up to $2,030,000 for construction of new water main in Litchfield Road between Yuma Road and Van Buren Street (project 60045) and related budget transfers. (Barbara Chappell, Deputy Public Works Director)
FISCAL IMPACT
The WPA2 16" Water Main Project (60045) has been funded for a total project cost of $2,015,000 utilizing Development impact Fees and water operating funds. The project budget includes expenditures for design and the purchase of long lead time items that have already occurred. This action will authorize an increase in the total project budget of $425,000 required due to rising construction costs and it will authorize the expenditure of all budgeted funds in the FY2022 budget to be used for the construction phase of the project.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS
Per City of Goodyear Resolution 08-1255, all expenditures of budgeted funds in excess of $500,000 must obtain Council approval.
STAFF ANALYSIS
This project is necessary to support growth along the Litchfield Road corridor. The water line was identified in the 2016 IWMP as infrastructure that needed to be built to support the water delivery demands of the area south of MC85. Due to increasing material costs and development in the corridor, the project now requires additional funding. The design phase of this project is scheduled for completion in September 2021 and the construction phase of the project is scheduled to begin in October 2021.
