| STAFF PRESENTER(S): | Linda Beals, Real Estate Coordinator |
SUMMARY:
Issuance of Utility Easement to Arizona Public Service Company required for the development of Fire Station 191 located southwest of Celebrate Life Way and 143rd Avenue.
Recommendation:
FISCAL IMPACT:
There will be no fiscal impact to the City in fiscal year 2021 or future years related to the issuance of the easement.
BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTIONS:
The City owns approximately five acres of land located southwest Celebrate Life Way and North 143rd Avenue (approximately 480 feet north of West Van Buren Street). A portion of the property was acquired from the State of Arizona (Arizona Department of Transportation) in April 2019 and a portion of the property was purchased from Cheyenne Valley, LLC in May 2019. The property was acquired by the City in connection with a capital improvement project for the construction of a replacement Fire Station 181, which replaces the former Fire Station 181 at 14000 West Yuma Road.
STAFF ANALYSIS
Fire Station 181 is currently under construction and requires the placement of electrical facilities by Arizona Public Service Company, an Arizona corporation (APS) to provide permanent power to the site. In order to place the necessary electrical facilities, APS requires the City to provide APS with the Utility Easement attached hereto.
