STAFF PRESENTER(S): Dawn Stipe, Recreation Superintendent

OTHER PRESENTER(S):

Kimberly R. Hill, Commissioner

SUMMARY

The Arts & Culture Commission’s Events and Advocacy Subcommittee will present opportunities for participation in special events taking place from January through June 2027 to increase public awareness of Goodyear’s Arts and Culture programs, resources, and initiatives.

RECOMMENDATION

Select two special events taking place between January and June 2027 for commissioner engagement and recommend them to the Arts and Culture Commission for consideration. (Dawn Stipe, Recreation Superintendent)

BACKGROUND AND PREVIOUS ACTION

In previous years, the subcommittee’s participation in City special events has primarily focused on Chalk Art in the Park and the Fall Festival. Building on this involvement, the subcommittee has identified opportunities to expand commissioner participation in community events, increase public engagement, and promote arts and culture throughout Goodyear.

As part of these ongoing efforts, the subcommittee is exploring additional special event opportunities for commissioner participation from January through June 2027.

STAFF ANALYSIS

Expanding the subcommittee’s participation in city special events would increase public awareness of the Commission’s role, promote local artists, and encourage community engagement in Arts and Culture.

Selecting two additional special events between January and June 2027 would provide meaningful engagement opportunities while considering commissioner availability, staff resources, and event coordination. Staff will work with participating commissioners to identify appropriate activities within existing resources.

No additional funding is required.
