Ice Breaker: Circle Game
Mr. Raeder and the Commission participated in “Circle Game” icebreaker activity. In this game, Commissioners stood in a circle facing each other. Mr. Raeder made various statements and Commissioners stepped forward if the statement applied to them.
Mr. Raeder explained that this activity was conducted at the Commission’s Cookie’s, Coco and Convo event and is designed to encourage participants to learn about one another and recognize shared interests and experiences.

Teen Movie Night Planning (John Raeder, Assistant to the Council)
The Youth Commission engaged in a planning discussion for hosting a teen movie night in December at the Goodyear Recreation Campus. Commissioners determined a location, date, movie, decorations, and food. They also assigned tasks for creating a flyer and jobs during the event.

Youth Commission PSA Update (John Raeder, Assistant to the Council)
The Youth Commission discussed creating a holiday themed anti-vaping PSA and/or a mental health awareness message.

National League of Cities (NLC) Washington DC Trip Update (John Raeder, Assistant to the Council)
The National League of Cities encourages the participation of youth (15-18 years old) in the Congressional City Conference on March 16-22 in Washington, DC. At the Congressional City Conference, youth delegates will have the opportunity to learn how federal policy and legislation affects their own cities and towns. Mr. Raeder explained that Goodyear would send four (4) delegates to the conference, and per the Youth Commission by-laws, the chair Victoria Lauritano and co-chair Raymond Gue will automatically fill two of our spots, if available, and the remaining two slots will be selected by the Commission from our upper classman at the January meeting.
