Mayor Lord called the Work Session to order at 5:02 p.m.

GREATER PHOENIX ECONOMIC COUNCIL (GPEC) UPDATE
Economic Development Director Lori Gary introduced members of the Economic Development Department staff and Council thanked them for their work.
Ms. Gary introduced Chris Camacho, President & CEO, Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), and Tim Bourcet, Vice President of Government and Community Affairs, Greater Phoenix Economic Council. She commented that Goodyear was one of the original members of GPEC and has been a member for over 30 years.
Mr. Camacho presented information on the current and prospective activity for potential businesses coming to the Phoenix and Goodyear area. He reviewed the 21 locates in Goodyear over the last five years that created 5,924 jobs and $2.5B in capital investments.
Mr. Camacho then spoke about the future and the opportunities adding that the Greater Phoenix area was the fastest growing tech markets in the country. He reviewed the importance of legislative action to the region in regard to Proposition 400 which related to transportation and Proposition 300 which relates to secondary education and fortifying and protecting the state’s water resources.
Mr. Camacho expressed that he was very optimistic in the greater Phoenix area being a big winner due to affordable housing and the state’s pro-business policies.
Council inquired about what needed to be done as a Council to get those corporate headquarters to come to Goodyear. Mr. Camacho replied that the city has already enhanced its brand being a well-planned community around industrial and with an office balance. He added that the city has invested in parks and green space and has built out the amenity base that corporate clients are looking for, putting the city in a strong position moving forward.
Council asked how the region compared to other major markets. Mr. Camacho replied the job creation and the net migration of people is going to dictate the market.
Council expressed their appreciation for the work GPEC has done for the region.
Mr. Camacho also thanked the Goodyear team and stated the team is an incredible group to work with.
