Mayor Pizzillo called the Work Session to order at 5:00 p.m.

Goodyear Municipal Court FY21 Executive Summary
Goodyear Municipal Court Presiding Judge Mayra Galindo provided an overview of the activities of the Court during Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21). Judge Galindo highlighted that the Court remained steadfast in its commitment to provide essential court services throughout the pandemic by remaining open and providing access to justice to all court customers.
Judge Galindo explained that during FY21 the Court had experienced growth in community outreach, in partnerships and access to services. This included items such as Online Dispute Resolution, DocuSign, increased language services and the use of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, iPads and telephones for remote and virtual court appearances.
Judge Galindo spoke about the audits that have been conducted in FY22 and the CIP project for Court Security Standards that was completed on time and within budget. She discussed the growth of the court and how the Court was focused on becoming a high performing court. She also spoke about the increased caseload, foot traffic and an increased demand for remote platforms.
Judge Galindo explained that the Court is focused on administrative excellence in their operational improvements through the innovation of court practices by focusing on efficiency, innovation and customer-oriented service.
Court Administrator Crystal Whelan spoke about court activities and solutions for customers as well as how the Court works to keep employee morale up and focused on the Court's culture.
Council was pleased with the community outreach and looked forward to what the court envisioned for the future for community outreach. Judge Galindo reviewed the options the Court was exploring and looked forward to interacting with the community once again.
