CALL TO ORDER
Vice Mayor Hampton called the Special Meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

Councilmember Campbell participated in the meeting telephonically.

APPOINT A COUNCILMEMBER TO COMPLETE THE TERM OF MAYOR
James Kelly, Goodyear resident, expressed his condolences to the City. Mr. Kelly asked the Council to consider electing Vice Mayor Hampton as Mayor and expressed that Vice Mayor Hampton has a big heart for the city and understands the changing dynamics of a growing city.
Councilmember inquired about allowing public comment on agenda items in a Special Meeting. City Attorney Roric Massey responded that the item was a Business Item, and it is open to the public for comment. Council asked if there would be discussion on the item. Mr. Massey replied that once there is a motion and a second the item will be open for discussion.
Council expressed their support for nominating Councilmember Joe Pizzillo for Mayor and also expressed appreciation to Vice Mayor Hampton for his service.
MOTION BY Councilmember Bill Stipp, SECONDED BY Councilmember Sheri Lauritano to NOMINATE Councilmember Joe Pizzillo to serve as Mayor of the City of Goodyear for the remainder of the term to expire on December 31, 2022. The motion carried by the following vote:

Passed - Unanimously
Deputy City Clerk Laura Jara administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Mayor Joe Pizzillo.
Mayor Pizzillo thanked the Council for their support.

There being no further business to discuss, Mayor Pizzillo adjourned the Special Meeting at 3:16 p.m.
