Chariman Fee called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m.

5.
TRAFFIC CABINET PUBLIC ART PROJECT (Layne Ruiz, Arts & Culture Coordinator)
Coordinator Ruiz discussed the 2023 Traffic Cabinet public art projects.  She asked the commissioners for twelve traffic cabinet location suggestions to be sent to her by the end of the year.  From the twelve suggestions Ruiz is going to have the community vote on the top eight to be enhanced this year.  The most desired sites would include an improved corner, not too many stand alone electric boxes and a good view corridor from the street.
 
6.
EVENTS AND FESTIVALS UPDATE (Holly McKenzie, Commissioner)
Commissioner McKenzie gave an overview of recent and upcoming events.  Goodyear Rocks "ROCKED" with impressive programming and a lot of fun.  Fall Festival at the ballpark was a success with 7,500 attendees.  The commissioners discussed ideas on managing the lines in the future and how to make the event more interactive like using passports etc.  Upcoming events include Veterans Day, Food Truck Nights on the Square and in December Holidays on the Square.
 
7.
ARTS UPDATE (Guylene Ozlanski, Administrator)
Administrator Ozlanski provided the commission with an update on current public art projects.  The trailhead marker behind Estrella Foothills High School has been installed.  The Story Teller book drop from the old library has been refurbished and placed on the patio outside the new library.  The desgin for the public art work at Fire Station 188 continues to make progress.  Imagine this Place the public art work for Bullard Wash will begin recording interviews in May.
 
8.
ARTS PROGRAMS UPDATE (Layne Ruiz, Arts & Culture Coordinator)
Coordinator Ruiz provided the commission an update on the heARTS of Goodyear project.  The ten hearts have been painted white and the new art will be painted in the next few weeks.  Ruiz gave the commissioners a preview of the selected artist sketches.  The commissioners discussed the sketches and in addition to wanting more color there were concerns about some content that will be discussed with the artist before final approval is given.
 
9.
COMMUNICATIONS UPDATE (Lisa Paulos, Commissioner)
Commissioner Paulos gave a brief update on communications.  The Arts and Culture commission website is a co-host of Holidays in the Square and getting a lot of traffic.  Instagram likes and shares continue to increase at a rapid rate.  Commissioner Paulos encouraged the rest of the commission to send her pictures of any art they capture in Goodyear.
 
10.
APPROVE MEETING CALENDAR 2023 (Frances Fee, Chairman)
 

MOTION BY Commissioner Erin MacFarlane, SECONDED BY Commissioner Brian Cross to APPROVE the 2023 meeting schedule of January 10, March 7, May 9, July 11, September 12 and November 7.
