CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 1:17p.m.
 
ROLL CALL
Present:
Committee Member Frances Fee; Chairman Barnes Jennifer Barnes; Ex-Officio Sandra Bassett; Committee Member Louise Privette

Arts & Culture Administrator Guylene Ozlanski;
 
PUBLIC COMMENTS

Before you begin to speak, identify yourself by clearly stating for the record, your name and address. This is the time for citizens who would like to address the Board on any non-agenda item within the jurisdiction of the Board. The Board will listen to comments, and may take any one of the following:
  • Respond to criticism
  • Request that staff investigate and report on the matter
  • Request that the matter be scheduled for on a future agenda.
 
BUSINESS
 
1.
FY2023 ANNUAL PUBLIC ART PLAN (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, ADMINISTRATOR)
Administrator Ozlanski shared the FY2022 plan with the committee to review and provide feedback.  Committee requested that the new CIP projects be added and more of an emphasis on performing Arts.  In addition, the committee asked that the bullet points in the plan begin with action words.

FIRE STATION 183 COMMUNITY MURAL PROJECT (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, ADMINISTRATOR)
Administrator Ozlanski to write up call to artist in February to share with committee for comment.  Plans to have a mural created in April.  Committee member Bassett offered to share the Call to Artist with a group of artist she is working with  for the Balck History Matters mural program.
 
3.
FIRE STATION 188 ARCHITECTURALLY INTEGRATED ARTWORK (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, ADMINISTRATOR)
Administrator Ozlanski shared that ACC selected artist Jason Butler did accept the offer to be the public artist for the new fire station.  Staff is working to get meetings scheduled with project stakeholders to begin the design process.
 
4.
heART OF GOODYEAR SERIES OF HEARTS (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, ADMINISTRATOR)
With the conclusion of the Goodyear75 celebration the committee is exploring an opportunity to have the hearts painted by a new group of artists with the emphasis on engaging teen artists and Goodyear residents.  The new theme for the murals on the hearts will be Goodyear the Beautiful.  Staff will be working to have the hearts repainted by fiscal year of end.
 
5.
GALLERY37 PROJECT (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, ADMINISTRATOR)
Committee Member Bassett shared the goals of the Gallery 37 programs for student artists to conceptualize, design and fabricate public artwork for Goodyear with an emphasis on the communication through presentation.  In discussing the project the committee recommends exploring the Goodyear trail system for opportunities to create "urban carins" along a trail system to continue to visually communicate Goodyear support of the Arts and how they improve community.  If a trail in not able to be identified Committee Member Fee recommended exploring the west end of the Recreation Campus for opportunities to have teen created public art installed.
