Vote to Appoint Chairman to the Parks and Recreation Advocacy Subcommittee
-Advocacy Subcommittee asked for chairman nominations.
-Committee Member Hohman nominated Committee Member Wilson.
-Advocacy Subcommittee asked for chairman nominations.
-Committee Member Hohman nominated Committee Member Wilson.
MOTION BY Committee Member Sharolyn Hohman, SECONDED BY Committee Member John Cox to APPOINT Committee Member Wilson as the Chairman for the Parks and Recreation Advocacy Subcommittee. The motion carried by the following vote:

Discuss the Advocacy Subcommittee Goals with Newly Appointed Committee Members
-Collaboration with other Commissions
-Increase Outreach and Engagement at Goodyear Functions
-Develop and Establish a Social Media Presence for Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission
The Advocacy Subcommittee rekindled after approximately a one-year hiatus. New subcommittee members were voted in at the April 20th Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meeting.
Committee members discussed various ways of advocating, raising awareness and community involvement.
-One goal is to promote Parks & Recreation and Arts & Culture events, assist to get the word out.
-Can be as simple as talking to people, attending events, volunteering, and if interested can set up a booth.
- Sharing on the various social media platforms.
-Committee Member Hohman stated she would like to see the collaboration goal ignited. To collaborate with other commissions, communicate, share ideas, and help advocate for each other.
-Committee members agreed to discuss the Advocacy Subcommittee goals in further detail at the next Advocacy Subcommittee meeting.
-Chairman Wilson informed that Kelsi Kiper emails updates of Arts & Culture events. If committee members want to be added to the list, let Jacque know.
