CALL TO ORDER
Chairmain Lauritano called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m.
 
ROLL CALL
Present:
Chairman Sheri Lauritano; Councilmember Wally Campbell; Councilmember Laura Kaino
Staff Present:
City Clerk Darcie McCracken; Assistant to the Council John Raeder; Planning Manager Steve Careccia
 
PUBLIC COMMENTS

There were no public comments.
 
BUSINESS
 
1.
Review applications, conduct interviews and appoint members to the Youth Commission.
Assistant to the Council John Raeder explained the Youth Commission to each group and group interviews took place.
 

MOTION BY Councilmember Wally Campbell, SECONDED BY Councilmember Laura Kaino to recommend for REAPPOINTMENT Emily Shanafelt, Alan Torres, Lucy Castro, Marissa Kutt, Ivan Diaz and Paloma Sanchez and to recommend for APPOINTMENT Alanah Doyle, Robert Garcia, Lucas Hamblin, Lex Landefield, Mia Doyle, Michaela Grumbling, Kaleigh Guajardo and Rory Readinger. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:
Chairman Sheri Lauritano, Councilmember Wally Campbell, Councilmember Laura Kaino

Passed - Unanimously

 
2.
Review applications, discussion and possible action to reappoint members to the Judicial Advisory Committee.
 

MOTION BY Councilmember Laura Kaino, SECONDED BY Councilmember Wally Campbell to recommend for REAPPOINTMENT Ed Hopler as the alternate and Hilary Weinberg Gingold to the Judicial Advisory Committee. The motion carried as follows:

Chairman Sheri Lauritano, Councilmember Wally Campbell, Councilmember Laura Kaino

Passed - Unanimously

 
3.
Review applications, conduct interviews and appoint members to the General Plan Committee.
Planning Manager Steve Careccia explained the General Plan Committee to each applicant and interviews were conducted.
 

MOTION BY Councilmember Wally Campbell, SECONDED BY Councilmember Laura Kaino to recommend for APPOINTMENT as voting members Richard Luckett, Daniel Grimwood and Gregory Brown and as the first alternate Jeremiah Smith and second alternate Elena Ross. The motion carried as follows:

Chairman Sheri Lauritano, Councilmember Wally Campbell, Councilmember Laura Kaino

Passed - Unanimously

 
4.
Review, discussion and provide direction to staff on any outstanding vacancies on Boards, Commissions and Committees.
The Council Subcommittee discussed the additional vacancies on the Youth Commission and directed efforts to the Estrella area.  Additionally, the Subcommittee directed the Clerk to coordinate with Mr. Raeder to have additional interviews for Youth Commission and the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission alternate position.
 
INFORMATION ITEMS
The Subcommittee asked staff to work on changes to the Boards, Commission and Committee process that would allow immediate family members of city employees to serve on the Youth Commission.  They also requested changes to the General Plan Committee By-Laws to consider adding a non-voting ex-officio member for Luke Air Force Base.
 
NEXT MEETING

There are no future meetings of the City Council Subcommittee for Boards, Commissions and Committees scheduled at this time.
 
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Lauritano adjourned the meeting at 4:37 p.m.
