| AGENDA ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION |
1.
2023 COUNCIL MEETING CALENDAR AND COUNCIL MEETING EFFECTIVENESS
City Clerk Darcie McCracken provided calendar options for the Council's review and discussion. Ms. McCracken reviewed the different options noting that the Council had the option to choose a calendar with Monday meetings and a June/July break, Monday meetings and a July/August break, Tuesday meetings and a June/July break or Tuesday meetings and a July/August break. Ms. McCracken stated that the City Charter requires that a calendar be established with meeting dates and times for the next calendar year. She added that the Council meeting schedule is completely in the purview of the City Council.
Ms. McCracken also provided work session options that included holding a work session on the first meeting of the month, plus a work session night, and not holding a work session on the second meeting of the month which is typically a Planning and Zoning item night.
Council discussed the options available to them and the Council consensus was to continue to hold meetings on Mondays and continue with the Council break in July/August. City Manager Julie Karins added that the only changes to the calendar would be to include the Council Retreat, the city attorney and city manager evaluation dates, and the work session night to be held two times a month. All Council meetings will also begin at 5 p.m.
