MOTION BY Vice Chairman Sharolyn Hohman, SECONDED BY Commissioner Kim Harris to APPROVE draft minutes from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meeting held on June 15, 2022. The motion carried by the following vote:

Master Plan Update (Parks & Recreation Project Manager, Diana Vasquez)
Parks and Recreation Project Manager Diana Vasquez gave a PowerPoint presentation update on the Master Plan.
-On track with public meetings, 3rd meeting coming up 8/17, with 4th and final public meeting 10/19, before going to Council.
-At the next Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission meeting on 10/12, a draft will be presented to the commissioners to get their input. The draft will be sent to commissioners prior to the 10/12 meeting.
-Save the date 11/28, going before Council for a work session, all commissioners are invited to attend.
-Save the date 12/12, going before Council for adoption, and commissioner attendance and support is encouraged.
-Input results from all community outreach dotocracy efforts, show these still holding as the top five priorities: swimming pools/splash pads, trails, playgrounds, urban fishing lake, and recreation center.

Goodyear Recreation Campus Year-One Highlights, Presentation (Parks & Recreation Superintendent, Michael Beadle)
Recreation Superintendent Michael Beadle gave a PowerPoint presentation.
-Goodyear Recreation Campus (GRC) fulfilled the goals of creating a place like no other for the community; a jewel of the city; an ultimate gathering place; and something for everyone.
-GRC first year was a year of many first things for family; friends, trying new things; fun; wellness; fitness; playing; aquatics; and community.
-Based on the analysis, the usage of GRC shows unprecedented numbers, surpassing the projected and benchmark numbers. Over 420,000 residents visited in the first year.
-Hit 2,500 residents per day in July 2021, opening month and this July 2022, over 2,200 per day.
-Demographics show that in the first six months, 28,135 day passes sold with the majority being the youth, at $3.00 a pass.
-Pass holder demographics show there are 52% youth and 41% adult users; 47% female and 53% male.
-The passes demographics show the higher percentages as: daily drop-in passes are dominated by youth at 60%; monthly passes are equal adult & youth at 43%; semi-annual passes at 64% adult; and annual passes at 40% adult.
-New & expanded programs offered: group fitness; special interest classes; swim lessons; open swim; there is something for everyone.
-Metrics prove to be important, however, the positive impact on the community is the most valuable result.
-Commissioners are impressed and excited about the first year success of GRC.

-Arts & Culture Administrator Guylene Ozlanski will attend the next Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission meeting to give information on more upcoming fall special events.
-Commissioner Harris asked if there will be a 9/11 event. Seid will check and advise.

-Chairman Wilson stated there was not a subcommittee meeting last month due to no quorum.

-Summer is winding down now, and recreation swim changed to week nights, 5pm-7pm.

-Discuss changing meeting location to Goodyear Civic Square.
-Upon discussion, commissioners are interested in attending a meeting at the new Goodyear Civic Square (GSQ) and if possible a tour.
-Next meeting will be scheduled at GSQ.
