Secretary Alissa Magley called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm.

Non-Agenda items: This is the time for citizens who would like to address the Goodyear General Plan Committee on any non-agenda item within the jurisdiction of the Goodyear General Plan Committee. Please complete a speaker card and give it to the Secretary. Each speaker is limited to three (3) minutes. Before you begin to speak, identify yourself by clearly stating for the record your name and whether you are a Goodyear resident. The Committee will listen to comments and may take any one of the following actions:
• Respond to criticism
• Request that staff investigate and report on the matter
• Request that the matter be scheduled for on a future agenda.

INTRODUCTIONS
Committee and staff gave introductions including where in the city they lived, reason they joined the committee and what they are hoping to accomplish by being on the committee.
Matthew Klyszeiko, representative of Michael Baker, gave an overview of the purpose of the committee and the roles and responsibilities of committee members.

GENERAL PLAN OVERVIEW
Matthew Klyszeiko, representative from Michael Baker, reviewed what is within a General Plan, state law requirements and how it is used. Mr. Klyszeiko discussed planning areas, the process for the update and the community outreach plan.

GROUP DISCUSSION
Matthew Klyszeiko, representative of Michael Baker, prompted the committee to discuss the areas within the city and the topics that should be focused on during the General Plan update.
The committee gave input on specific topics they felt were important to focus on, including water, education, transportation, infrastructure, city services and new development. The committee was tasked to define the city in one word and explained their choices.

NEXT STEPS
Matthew Klyszeiko, representative of Michael Baker, notified committee they would receive an email listing the current goals of the General Plan and will be tasked with reviewing goals and giving input on whether these goals should be revised for the update.
Steve Careccia, Planning Manager, explained the roles and responsibilities of the Chair and Vice Chair and tasked the committee to send an email expressing their interest in filling the role.

NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the General Plan Committee will be August 24, 2022 at 6:00 pm at Goodyear City Hall, located at 1900 North Civic Square, Goodyear, AZ 85395.
