Mayor Pizzillo called the Work Session to order at 5:00 p.m.

GREATER PHOENIX ECONOMIC COUNCIL (GPEC) UPDATE
Acting Economic Development Director Wendy Bridges introduced President and CEO of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) Chris Camacho to provide an overview of results from FY2022 and an update for FY2023. He stated that between FY2021 to present, nine projects have been the focus of new industrial business in Goodyear. Mr. Camacho discussed several topics which GPEC is focusing on for the current fiscal year to attract new businesses to Goodyear.
Council thanked Mr. Camacho for his commitment to ensuring Goodyear stays competitive for new businesses and opportunities, and inquired about attracting international business to Goodyear and which areas Goodyear should focus on in the coming budget year to encourage growth. Mr. Camacho stated that the focus for attracting new international businesses is on Asia, Canada, and Mexico, and stated that it is important to plan the growth of the city with balanced growth in mind to ensure all the needs of the community are being met and the prime land for industrial is maintained for the right businesses.
Council requested to be included in the GPEC Partnership Program meeting in the current fiscal year, and asked to have a discussion to align the visions of Council, Economic Development and Development Services.
