SELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR (JOHN RAEDER, ASSISTANT TO THE CITY COUNCIL)
Assistant to the Council John Raeder reviewed the criteria in the Youth Commission By-Laws for selecting the Chair and Vice Chair positions.
Commissioner Robert Garcia, Commissioner Alan Torres, and Commissioner Emily Shanfelt expressed interest in serving as the Youth Commission Chair and provided a brief presentation on their experience and why they wanted to serve. The Commission selected Commissioner Alan Torres to serve as the Chair.
Commissioner Robert Garcia, Commissioner Emily Shanfelt, and Commissioner Amaani Singh expressed interest in serving as the Youth Commission Vice Chair. Commissioner Singh provided a brief presentation on her experience and why she wanted to serve as Vice Chair. The Commission selected Commissioner Emily Shanafelt to serve as Vice Chair.

INFOCUS YOUTH COMMISSION TAKEOVER (CORINNE HOLIDAY, DEPUTY DIRECTOR, DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS)
Deputy Director Corinne Holliday and Graphic Designer Sarana OBrien-Trayner presented on the city of Goodyear Digital Communication Department and the InFocus magazine; and lead a discussion on a Youth Commission takeover of an edition next year.
The Youth Commission expressed a desire to move forward with the project and began brainstorming potential topics and articles for the edition, including: mental health awareness; youth activities and programs in the city; ways youth can get involved; things youth love doing; sports and upcoming events.

AZ GO VOTE PROJECT (COMMISSIONER EMILY SHANAFELT)
Vice Chair Emily Shanafelt presented on a project to encourage youth to register to vote in the upcoming election. She asked the Commission to assist with hanging posters at their schools and help promote messaging on social media.
