Approve Artists for Police Department Sculptures (Guylene Ozlanski, Arts Administrator)
Administrator Ozlanski introduced the commissioners to project manager Troy Tobiasson who will oversee the renovation and expansion of Goodyear Police Operations facility. The police have communicated that for the accompanying public art piece they would prefer a bronze statue with three figures. The existing public art, the Honor Wall, will be decommissioned and replaced by the new art. Manager Tobiasson communicated that the police would like a traditional bronze sculpture with three figures depicting the police motto of "Honor, Courage and Dedication." Coordinator Ruiz gave a brief overview of artist Trevor O'Toole and Chris Nelke and their renderings of statue examples. The commissioners discussed the artist and eliminated Chirs Nelke based on his inability to create three figures within the $210,000 budget.
