BUSINESS

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes from the March 23, 2023 Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting.

MOTION BY Boardmember Liam Tierney, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jay Mathias to APPROVE the draft minutes from the March 23, 2023 Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Michael Stewart, Board Member Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Jay Mathias, Boardmember Liam Tierney

Passed - Unanimously

Review, discussion and possible action regarding the application and medical records for entry into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

MOTION BY Boardmember Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Boardmember Liam Tierney to ACCEPT Jake Bennett, Jordan Phillips, and Gavin Quigley into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System with pre-existing conditions. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Michael Stewart, Board Member Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Jay Mathias, Boardmember Liam Tierney

Passed - Unanimously

MOTION BY Boardmember Liam Tierney, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jay Mathias to ACCEPT Raymond Valencia into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System with no pre-existing conditions. The motion carried as follows

Passed - Unanimously

EXECUTIVE SESSION

No Executive Session was held.

SEPARATIONS

There were no separations to report.

INFORMATION ITEMS

Boardmember Doyle inquired about the Tier III and Tier I disability retirement benefits. Ms. Sorensen explained the intent of the calculation for Tier I as designed to be 50%. Ms. Sorensen let the Board know she would be researching the matter and would bring a memo back to the Board for discussion at a future meeting.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board is tentatively schedule for May 25, 2023.

There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Kaino adjourned the meeting at 8:09 a.m.
