CALL TO ORDER

Chair Kaino called the Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting to order at 8:23 a.m.

ROLL CALL

Present:: Chair Laura Kaino; Vice Chair Michael Stewart; Boardmember Jay Mathias; Board Member Jason Costello; Board Member Jason Bayer
Staff Present:: Board Secretary Darcie McCracken; Board Attorney Lesli Sorensen

There were no public comments.

BUSINESS

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes of the July 27, 2023 Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting.

MOTION BY Board Member Jason Costello, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jay Mathias to APPROVE the draft minutes of the July 27, 2023 Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Michael Stewart, Boardmember Jay Mathias, Board Member Jason Costello, Board Member Jason Bayer

Passed - Unanimously

Review, discussion and possible action regarding the application and medical records for entry into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System for:

Tyler Edens
Tyler Foster
Justin Gaspar
Steven Harsha
Aaron Price
Thomas Vinas

The Board entered into Executive Session at 8:24 a.m.

The Board reconvened the Open Session at 8:51 a.m.

MOTION BY Boardmember Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Board Member Jason Costello to ACCEPT applications for Tyler Edens, Aaron Price and Thomas Vinas with no pre-exising conditions; Tyler Foster and Steven Harsha with pre-existing conditions; and conditionally accept Justin Gaspar and to appoint a new medical board to review information discussed in Executive Session. The motion carried as follows:

Passed - Unanimously

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Per ARS §38-431.03, upon a public majority vote of the members constituting a quorum, the Goodyear Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board may hold an executive session for any item on the agenda.

MOTION BY Boardmember Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Board Member Jason Bayer to CONVENE an Executive Session. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Michael Stewart, Boardmember Jay Mathias, Board Member Jason Costello, Board Member Jason Bayer

Passed - Unanimously

There are no separations to report.

INFORMATION ITEMS

Chair Kaino spoke about the Process Maps and that the Board would be discussing them at a joint meeting in the future.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board Meeting is tentatively scheduled for 8:00 a.m. on December 21, 2023.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Kaino adjourned the meeting at 8:55 a.m.
