CALL TO ORDER
Chair Kaino called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes of the October 5, 2023 Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Vice Chair Michael Stewart to APPROVE the minutes of the October 5, 2023 Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting. The motion carried as follows:

Review, discussion and possible action regarding the applications and medical records for entry into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System for:
  • Dawson Clifton
  • Jacob Figgins
  • Kristopher Jackson
  • Tea Jerome
  • Michael Matson
  • Andrew Wade
  • Derek Ward
  • Ryan Watkins
The Board entered into Executive Session at 8:02 a.m.

Chair Kaino reconvened the Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting at 8:24 a.m.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jason Bayer to ACCEPT the application for Dawson Clifton with no pre-existing conditions into the Public Safety Retirement System. The motion carried as follows:

Passed - Unanimously

 

MOTION BY Boardmember Jason Bayer, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jay Mathias to ACCEPT applications for Jacob Figgins, Kristopher Jackson, Tea Jerome, Michael Matson, Andrew Wade, Derek Ward and Ryan Watkins with pre-existing conditions. The motion carried as follows:

3.
Review, discuss and provide possible direction regarding PSPRS e-mail newsletter sign-up for new Police recruits.
After discussion, the Board asked that the members be automatically added to the PSPRS newsletter e-mail list.
 
EXECUTIVE SESSION

Per ARS §38-431.03, upon a public majority vote of the members constituting a quorum, the Goodyear Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board may hold an executive session for any item on the agenda.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Jason Costello, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jason Bayer to CONVENE an Executive Session. The motion carried as follows:

  • Rene Ordonez - 12/15/2023
The Board acknowledged the separations.
 
INFORMATION ITEMS
Board Secretary Darcie McCracken spoke about the March 6 PSPRS conference and said she would follow-up with the Boardmembers after the first of the year.

Chair Kaino asked to verify that any psychological reports are kept somewhere and would be accessible at a later time if needed.

Chair Kaino thanked Citizen Representative Michael Stewart for his years of service to the PSPRB as he would be terming out this next year.
 
NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Police Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board is tentatively scheduled for February 22, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.
 
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Kaino adjourned the meeting at 8:30 a.m.
