DISCUSS WEST VALLEY TEMPORARY ART PROJECT (LAYNE RUIZ, ARTS & CULTURE COORDINATOR)
Coordinator Ruiz gave a description of the West Valley Temporary Art Program that will begin in FY25. West Valley cities have partnered together to create a series of site-specific artworks to facilitate cultural tourism and connect West Valley cities through public art. Each city will fund $10,000 for their public art project.

ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION UPDATES (ERIN MACFARLANE, VICE CHAIR)
Vice-Chairman Erin MacFarlane informed the commission that Brian Cross has moved out of Goodyear and is no longer able to serve on the commission. She thanked Commissioner Cross for his dedication to the arts in Goodyear over the years. The Council Subcommittee is meeting on May 8, 2024 to conduct interviews for the alternate and voting seats. Council will also be reviewing the edits to the Public and Performing Arts Ordinance language to remove the West Valley Arts Council. The new ordinance will need to be adopted by council then the commission can vote to update the bylaws to match the ordinance.
5.
REVIEW FY25 ANNUAL ART PLAN (JEN BARNES, PUBLIC ART SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIRMAN)
Commissioner Barnes provided the commission with an update on the FY25 Annual Public Art Plan presented to City Council during the annual budget process. She reviewed key projects including Fire Station 184, Pop Ups in the Park, Traffic Cabinets and new this year West Valley Temporary Art Program and Public Art Tours. The goal of the new program is to drive cultural tourism to Goodyear through connecting with West Valley cities by celebrating their public art collections.

ARTS UPDATE (LAYNE RUIZ, ARTS & CULTURE COORDINATOR)
Coordinator Ruiz was pleased to inform the commission of the purchase of an "Art Bike" to enhance the Pop Ups in the Park programming for FY25 including Spring and Veterans Day temporary mural installations. Ruiz gave updates on FY24 public art projects including the mosaic mural at Fire Station 182, the bronze sculpture at the Goodyear Police Department and the sculpture design for the Estrella Bridge expansion project.

JUNETEENTH PLANNING COMMITTEE UPDATE (ROZ ROBINSON, COMMISSIONER)
Coordinator Ruiz gave a brief update on the enhancements to the 2024 Juneteenth celebration, including spreading out the activities to be able to accommodate the anticipated number attendees. The commissioners reviewed last years event and discussed their upcoming roles at the event.
8.
EVENTS UPDATE (NANCY LOVE, FESTIVAL AND EVENTS SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIRMAN)
Festivals and Events Subcommittee Chairman Nancy Love provided updates and recent events including Hop & Hops, Goodyear Lakeside Music Fest and the Night Markets. The Night Markets have exceeded expectations, bringing in over $40,000 in revenue for our local vendors. Hop & Hops was well received by the community and ran smoothly with the dedication of additional space and age group categories for the egg hunt. The Lakeside Music Fest continues to be a very popular event in the Estrella Community with announced attendance exceeding 10,000.
