CALL TO ORDER

Meeting was called to order at 5:06pm by Vice Chair Robert Shirey.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes of the Citizens Water Advisory Committee Meeting on May 8, 2024.

Discussion on Water-Related Projects
  • Overview of the process to obtain funding for capital projects
  • Discussion on land and water use including policy development
Water Services Director, Barbara Chappell, presented on the Capital Improvement Program including how projects are scheduled and how funding is sourced. In addition, Ms. Chappell presented on the relationship between land planning and water management, including the importance of coordination in light of growing water shortages and contiued development.

Discussion on Communication Structure
  • Discuss process for making recommendations to Council
Water Services Director, Barbara Chappell, discussed with the committee the process for presenting the Committee's recommendations to Council.
 
4.
Legislative Update
Staff provided an overview of legislative bills related to water.
 
5.
Announcements
  • Submission of Modification of Designation of Assured Water Supply
Water Services staff worked with Carollo to complete the application for Modification of Designation of Assured Water Supply. The application was submitted to the Arizona Department of Water Resources (Department) and is pending review and comment by the Department.
  • Status of Integrated Water Master Plan
Work on the Integrated Water Master Plan continues by Carollo. Staff anticipates this project being complete in Fall 2024.
  • Status of Reuse Project
Jacobs began work on a study intended to maximize the use of the city's reclaimed water supply.
  • June In-Focus Magazine
This month's In-Focus Magazine features information on water in the City.

NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Citizens Water Advisory Committee is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Goodyear Public Works located at 4980 S 157th Ave. Goodyear, AZ 85338
 
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Vice Chair Shirey adjourned the meeting at 6:39 p.m.
