Vice Chairman MacFarlane noted that her name was misspelled in the minutes in the Adjournment section.

Chairman Paulos will give opening remarks.
Chairman Paulos stated that she did not have any opening remarks.
Chairman Paulos will introduce and welcome new commissioners.
Chairman Paulos introduced Commissioner Jerry Drake as the new commissioner to the Arts & Culture Commission (ACC). Commissioner Drake represents the Pebble Creek area and comes highly recommended. Also, new to the ACC, is Alternate Commissioner Carole Palmer.
Discussion and vote to appoint new committee members.
Coordinator Ruiz stated that with the new commissioners onboard, there are spots open in the subcommittees.
-There was discussion about whether any standing committee members wanted to move and where they would like to be placed.
-Coordinator Ruiz recommended Commissioner Robinson to serve as the Chair of the Education & Programs Subcommittee. Commissioner Robinson has been leading a lot of programming and is the champion of the Juneteenth event.
-Commissioner Drake expressed interest in serving on the Public Art Subcommittee and Alternate Commissioner Palmer is interested in serving on the Communication Subcommittee.

Appoint Alternate Commissioner Palmer to serve on the Communication Subcommittee. Appoint Commissioner Robinson to serve as Chair of the Education & Programs Subcommittee.

Discussion and vote to approve the Bylaw Amendment.
Coordinator Ruiz informed the commissioners that the ordinance, Article 3-9 of Goodyear City Code was amended and approved by Council to remove the West Valley Arts Council ex officio member from the Arts & Culture Commission membership.
-Coordinator Ruiz informed that the Arts & Culture Bylaws were amended to reflect that change.
-Also changed the wording from citizen to resident and changed the sequence in article 3-9-3.

Commissioner Robinson will provide a summarization of the Juneteenth event.
Commissioner Robinson stated that the Juneteenth event was a success and received positive feedback from the community.
-The event continues to grow with approximately 4,000 in attendance.
-Robinson stated this year the event was held on a Wednesday and believes there was a better turnout on Wednesday.
-The commissioners stated that the event was very well organized.
-There were many activities for the kids and something for all ages to participate in.
-Implemented a new activity, the Juneteenth Youth Expression Contest. Artist Amara Iroku's book marker won the contest.
-There was music, entertainment, food trucks, and many activities.
-The event had Channel 3 media coverage.
Coordinator Ruiz will provide Arts & Culture updates.
Coordinator Ruiz gave Arts & Culture updates, beginning with the Guardians of the Wilderness mural at Station 182. Kristine Kollasch headed the mosaic mural project, and an art dedication ceremony is Tuesday, July 16th, at 9 a.m.
-Artist Trevor O'Tool is finalizing the Helping Hand sculpture at the Police Department Administration office. The installation is estimated for September 2024, with a dedication ceremony in October 2024.
-New to the arts is Pop Ups in the Park, an art cart that is attached to a bike, filled with art supplies, that will be available at events and at parks.
-Ruiz gave updates on these upcoming art programs: Library Fine Art Show; Employee Art Show; Follow Your Art Jr.; Hot Coffee Lectures; PW Litchfield Heritage Lectures; Catitude Multigenerational Classes; and WHAM Veterans Art. Details of each program can be found on goodyearaz.gov/arts
-Ruiz gave updates on these upcoming art events: Recap 4th of July; Ballet Under the Stars; Movie Night; Goodyear Rocks; Fall Festival; Chalk Art in the Park; Veterans Day Tribute & Mural Experience. Details of each event can be found on goodyearaz.gov/events.
Chairman Paulos will provide updates on the Communications Subcommittee.
Chairman Paulos stated that Commissioner Brian Cross recently left the subcommittee, and looks forward to Alternate Commissioner Carol Palmer joining the subcommittee. Paulos will set up a meeting soon.
-Paulos noted that reels were posted on Instagram. The city interviewed a student artist from the Juneteenth Expressions Workshop to promote the event and the program. Catitude created a fun reel with a lot of pizzazz, on the Follow Your Art artists, and the traffic cabinet artists captured good pictures of their cabinets.

Vice Chairman MacFarlane informed the commissioners to join the Library Summer Reading Program before it ends on July 31st, sign up at Maricopacountyreads.org. Participants can win prizes and tickets to Phoenix Mercury games. Also, the Phoenix Art Museum is giving away culture passes to visit the art museum for free.
