CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Kaino called the Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting to order at 8:08 a.m.

ROLL CALL

Present:: Chair Laura Kaino; Vice Chair Jay Mathias; Boardmember Michael Gugel; Boardmember Patrick Doyle; Boardmember Teresa Kuleff
Staff Present:: Board Attorney Lesli Sorensen; Board Secretary Darcie McCracken; Human Resources Director Lyman Locket; Benefits Analyst Chanda Washington

Boardmember Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Michael Gugel and Board Attorney Lesli Sorensen attended via Teams.

There were no public comments.

BUSINESS

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes of the June 27, 2024 Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting.

MOTION BY Boardmember Teresa Kuleff, SECONDED BY Vice Chair Jay Mathias to APPROVE the draft minutes of the June 27, 2024 Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Jay Mathias, Boardmember Michael Gugel, Boardmember Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Teresa Kuleff

Passed - Unanimously

Review, discussion and possible action on the applications and medical records for entry into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System.

The Board moved into Executive Session at 8:09 a.m.

Chair Kaino reconvened the Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting at 8:23 a.m.

MOTION BY Vice Chair Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Boardmember Teresa Kuleff to ACCEPT the applications for entry into the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System:
James Clark and Josue Indas with no pre-existing conditions;
Isaac Gomez, Jeff Heagney, Andrew Szerlag and Brandon Williams with pre-existing conditions;
Jonathan Castaneda, Trevor Colter and Carter Smith with pre-existing conditions and pending additional information;
and
to POSTPONE the acceptance of Michael O'Farrell pending notification.
The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Jay Mathias, Boardmember Michael Gugel, Boardmember Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Teresa Kuleff

Passed - Unanimously

EXECUTIVE SESSION

Per ARS §38-431.03, upon a public majority vote of the members constituting a quorum, the Goodyear Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board may hold an executive session for any item on the agenda.

MOTION BY Vice Chair Jay Mathias, SECONDED BY Boardmember Teresa Kuleff to CONVENE an Executive Session. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:: Chair Laura Kaino, Vice Chair Jay Mathias, Boardmember Michael Gugel, Boardmember Patrick Doyle, Boardmember Teresa Kuleff

Passed - Unanimously

The Board reviewed and acknowledged the separation.

INFORMATION ITEMS

Board Secretary Darcie McCracken advised the group she would be in contact to arrange for another date to cover the November and December meetings since they fell on holidays.

NEXT MEETING

The next meeting of the Fire Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board is tentatively scheduled for October 24, 2024.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business to discuss, Chairman Kaino adjourned the meeting at 8:27 a.m.
