CHAIRMAN REMARKS (LISA PAULOS, CHAIRMAN)
Chairman Paulos gave a rave review of the new Alice Cooper Teen Center.  The facility is phenomenal and filled with beautiful art and music, a true blessing for Goodyear teens interested in the arts!  Paulos attended the City's annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner with her fellow commissioners and a good time was had by all.  Chairman Paulos and Deputy Director Ozlanski presented the Arts & Culture annual plan to the City of Goodyear Council.  Council was supportive and thankful for the quality and quantity of work completed by the commissioners.  Lastly, Paulos pointed out that traffic cabinets are currently being painted, adding little pops of color throughout the city!  Deputy Director Ozlanski introduced Dawn Stipe who was recently promoted to Arts and Culture administrator.  Stipe has been at the Goodyear Recreation Campus for four years, rounding out 20 years working in recreation.  Administrator Stipe is excited to work with the commission and expand her knowledge of public art and events.

3.
NEXTERA ENERGY ART PROJECT DISCUSSION (MAGGIE VETTEL, NEXTERA ENERGY COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER)
Maggie Vettel the community engagement manager for Nextera Energy shared with the commission her company's desire to promote art in Goodyear.  Pluto Battery Energy Storage Site is being built by Nextera in Goodyear Industrial Park off of Sarival.  They would like to promote a local mural contest for the 16'x150' exterior wall. Vettel asked for assistance from the Arts & Culture Commission to help promote the call to artists as well as assist in the selection of the artwork submitted.   Nextera will provide a $10,000 scholarship to the winner as well as the materials needed to complete the mural.

4.
HOLA WEST VALLEY TEMPORARY ART INSTALLATION PROPOSAL (ARTIST JO HO)
Jo Ho was selected by the City of Goodyear as the artist for the Hola West Valley Temporary Art Installation.  The project will be installed at the Goodyear Recreation Campus for 19 months.  Ho presented her project to the commissioners and explained how the art was inspired by local community engagement as well as the physical location of the aquatic center.  The installation will be interactive as different elements within the "puzzle piece design" will rise and lower.  The commissioners were impressed and intrigued by her unique approach to design and are looking forward to the final piece, wishing it weren't temporary.

5.
BULLARD WASH TRAIL ARTIST SELECTION (GUYLENE OZLANSKI, DEPUTY DIRECTOR)
Deputy Director Ozlanski explained that the list of artists submitted by Kimley Horn for the trail expansion was reviewed by the Public Art Subcommittee, who narrowed the selection to three.  The top three artists were ranked by preference but the commission would be in complete support of either of the three.
