Ron Wilks, Goodyear resident, presented to the Commission on the growth of pickleball in the community. He outlined current pickleball locations and potential future sites for dedicated courts, citing the sport's steady local growth and increasing community interest from 2009 to 2025. Mr. Wilks requested that the Commission consider this growth in future parks and recreation planning and expressed hope for continued support in expanding pickleball opportunities.

BUDGET: FY26 PREVIEW (Laura Jara, Management Assistant)
Parks and Recreation Management Assistant Laura Jara presented an overview of the City’s Fiscal Year 2026 budget. The City’s total budget has surpassed $1.2 billion for the first time, which includes funding for over 1,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) positions. The Parks and Recreation Department’s total budget for FY 2026 is $97.1 million.

BULLARD WASH TRAIL: PROJECT UPDATE (David Seid, Interim Parks & Recreation Director)
Interim Parks and Recreation Director David Seid updated the Commission on several upcoming projects. He outlined planned trail extensions for the Bullard Wash Trail, mentioning future opportunities for the Commission to assist with trail branding. Mr. Seid also discussed plans to relocate the dog park at Goodyear Community Park to a more suitable location. Additionally, he shared an update on Phase 2 of the Goodyear Recreation Campus development, highlighting its key features and anticipated timelines. He concluded by announcing that the new splash pad at Loma Linda Pool is now officially open to the public.
