CALL TO ORDER
Chair Campbell called the meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.
 
ROLL CALL
Present:
Chair Wally Campbell; Boardmember Benita Beckles; Boardmember Trey Terry
Staff Present:
City Clerk Jasmine Pernicano; Human Resources Director Lyman Locket; Water Resources and Sustainability Manager Ray Diaz

There were no public comments.
 
BUSINESS
 
1.
Approval of Minutes
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Trey Terry, SECONDED BY Boardmember Benita Beckles to APPROVE the draft minutes from the City Council Subcommittee: Boards, Commissions and Committee Appointment Meeting on May 19, 2025. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:
Chair Wally Campbell, Boardmember Benita Beckles, Boardmember Trey Terry

Passed - Unanimously

 
2.
Review applications, conduct interviews, discuss and take possible action to appoint and re-appoint members to the Council Compensation Committee.
Jasmine Pernicano, City Clerk, gave a brief overview of the process and provided information on the reappointments. 
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Trey Terry, SECONDED BY Boardmember Benita Beckles to RECOMMEND the reappointment of Susan Schmelzer and Robert (Bob) Paine to the Council Compensation Committee. The motion carried as follows:

AYE:
Chair Wally Campbell, Boardmember Benita Beckles, Boardmember Trey Terry

Passed - Unanimously

The Subcommittee then reviewed the applications, and held interviews with Jesse Aynes, Michael Meyer and Robert Coberly to fill one vacant position on the Council Compensation Committee. Lyman Locket, Human Resources Director, provided information to the applicants regarding the purpose of the Council Compensation Committee and the role of its members.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Trey Terry, SECONDED BY Boardmember Benita Beckles to RECOMMEND the appointment of Jesse Aynes to the Council Compensation Committee. The motion carried as follows:

Passed - Unanimously

Review applications, conduct interviews, discuss and take possible action to re-appoint members and appoint two alternates to the Citizen Water Advisory Committee.
Jasmine Pernicano, City Clerk, gave a brief overview of the process, noting the vacancies and providing information regarding the reappointments.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Benita Beckles, SECONDED BY Boardmember Trey Terry to RECOMMEND the reappointment of Elena Ross and Lynette Keating, and to appoint alternate members Teresa Kuleff and Rodie Purcell as voting members, with Mr. Purcell filling the unexpired term of Greg Brown. The motion carried as follows:

Passed - Unanimously

The Subcommittee then reviewed the applications, and held interviews with Robert Coberly, Walter Coley and Jill Rhodes to fill two alternate positions on the Citizen Water Advisory Committee, and also considered the submission of Christine Gonzales, who was unable to attend. Ray Diaz, Water Resources and Sustainability Manager, provided the applicants with an overview of the Committee’s purpose and the role of its members.

Review and discuss upcoming vacancies.
Jasmine Pernicano, City Clerk, provided a brief overview of the upcoming vacancies on the Arts and Culture Commission.

There are no future meetings scheduled at this time.
 
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Chair Campbell adjourned the meeting at 3:47 p.m.
