CALL TO ORDER
Chair Kaino called the Joint Public Safety Personnel Retirement meeting to order at 8:01 a.m.

Staff Present:
Board Secretary Jasmine Pernicano; Board Attorney Lesli Sorensen; Human Resources Director Lyman Locket; Benefits Analyst Chanda Washington; Benefits Analyst Maria Carrillo
Boardmember Doyle participated via Teams videoconference. 

Lyman Locket, Human Resources Director joined the meeting at 8:23 a.m. Boardmember Gugel joined the meeting at 8:36 a.m. and participated via Teams videoconference.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve the draft minutes of the March 20, 2025 Joint Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting.
 

MOTION BY Boardmember Teresa Kuluff, SECONDED BY Boardmember Jason Costello to APPROVE the draft minutes of the March 20, 2025 Joint Public Safety Personnel Retirement Board meeting. The motion carried as follows:

PSPRS Disability Training
Overview of disability types, eligibility requirements, medical board involvement, and local board review processes.
Lesli Sorensen, Board Attorney, provided an overview of disability types including ordinary, accidental, temporary and catastrophic categories, and the eligibility requirements and calculations for each. She further described the medical board involvement, and local board review process when an application is received. 

In response to a Board inquiry, Ms. Sorensen explained that, depending on the individual circumstances, employees participating in the DROP program may be eligible to apply for disability retirement.

FUTURE MEETINGS
The next meeting for the Joint Public Safety Retirement Board meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 19, 2026.
 
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to discuss, Chair Kaino adjourned the meeting at 8:45 a.m.
